Frequently asked questions
How do I connect Gmail or Outlook?
- Click the DispatcherTools icon in the browser toolbar and choose "Templates & email setup".
- Read the data notice at the top and press "I understand". Sign-in and sending stay off until you do.
- In "Email account", type your email address in the Gmail or Outlook row and press Connect.
- Sign in on the Google or Microsoft window that opens and approve the permissions.
- The row shows "Connected". Use "Send test email" in the Templates section to check; the test goes to your own address.
Only one email account can be connected at a time. To switch, disconnect the first.
Gmail will not connect, or it says it needs Chrome.
Gmail sign-in uses Chrome's built-in Google sign-in, so it works only in Google Chrome, and Chrome must be signed in to a Google account. In other browsers, including Brave, Edge and Firefox, connect Outlook (Microsoft) instead. Outlook sign-in works in those browsers.
How do labels work?
Each template has a "Dispatcher label" field. When you send an email with that template, the label is added to the message: as a label on the sent message in Gmail, or as a category in Outlook. The label is not visible to the recipient. If several dispatchers share one mailbox, give each dispatcher's templates their own label (for example "Dispatcher A") so you can tell who sent what.
- If the label does not exist yet in Gmail, the extension creates it.
- Names Gmail uses for its own folders (Inbox, Sent, Draft, Drafts, Spam, Trash, Unread, Starred, Important, Chat, Scheduled, Snoozed, and names starting with "category_") cannot be used as labels. Choose a different name.
- If the email was sent but the label could not be added, the extension tells you "Sent, but the Gmail label wasn't added". If the message mentions permissions, disconnect Gmail and connect it again.
Does one click really send the email?
Yes. Pressing the paper-plane button sends the email at once using your default template; there is no preview or general confirmation step. The only prompt is a warning if you already emailed the same address about the same load. Check your default template (marked with a star in the dashboard) before using the button.
How do I disconnect?
In the dashboard, "Email account" section, press Disconnect and confirm. For Gmail the extension also asks Google to revoke the access. For Outlook it removes the sign-in from the browser; to fully remove the permission, also remove the app in your Microsoft account. You can remove Google access any time at myaccount.google.com/permissions. See the privacy policy.
How do I remove my data?
Delete templates, signature and logo in the dashboard. "Reset to defaults" in the popup turns the switches back to their defaults, resets the theme levels, deletes all saved Target values on both sites (Truckstop target rates and $/mi, DAT RPM and rate targets) and turns Target rates off. It does not remove templates, signature, logo or sign-in. Removing the extension from the browser deletes everything it stored. Disconnect your email first. We hold no copy of your data on our side. Details are in the privacy policy.
Where does the extension work?
On one.dat.com (DAT One) and main.truckstop.com (Truckstop) only. The dark theme is for DAT One. True RPM, the road map and the age filter are for Truckstop. Target rates works on both: it adds Target boxes to each search tab on DAT One and on Truckstop, and loads paid under 90% of the target get a down arrow and a warning colour. On DAT One, while Target rates is on, "Include Deadhead" is turned on and locked. Features differ by site; the popup greys out what does not apply to the site you are on.
Known limits
- Gmail connection works only in Google Chrome.
- Only one email account (Gmail or Outlook) at a time.
- The extension depends on how DAT One and Truckstop currently lay out their pages. If a site changes its layout, some features may pause until the extension is updated; the popup then shows a notice for Truckstop.
- Sending needs a readable origin, destination and truck location (the Origin of the search tab you have open). If it cannot read them, it shows an error and sends nothing.
- Recipient addresses must be a single plain email address.
- No more than 40 load emails in 10 minutes.
- True RPM and the road map use free public OpenStreetMap services, which limit request rates. Numbers may appear slowly or not at all when those services are busy. Place lookups are for US cities.
- Templates keep simple formatting only (bold, italic, underline, links, basic lists and fonts and colours). Other formatting is removed before sending.
Troubleshooting
- Buttons do not appear. Reload the DAT One or Truckstop tab. Check the feature is switched on in the popup. Check that the extension is enabled on the Extensions page.
- "Please read the data notice" message. Open the dashboard and press "I understand".
- "Email is not connected" or "session expired". Open the dashboard and press Connect again.
- "Couldn't read your search origin (truck location)". Open a search tab with the Origin filled in, then try again.
- "Create an email template first". Open the dashboard and create a template.
- "Too many emails in a short time". Wait a few minutes.
- Sign-in window does not appear. Check the browser's blocked-pop-up icon.
- Truckstop features paused. The popup shows what could not be found. Reload the page. If it persists, report it (below).
- Sent but not labelled. Disconnect and connect Gmail again, and avoid reserved folder names as labels.
